11 bodies recovered from fishing trawler in Cox’s Bazar

District Correspondent : Eleven half-decomposed bodies were recovered from cold-store of a fishing trawler at Nazirartek area in Cox’s Bazar.

Monayem Billah, Station In-charge of Cox’s Bazar Fire Service and Civil Defence, confirmed the matter to Jago News on Sunday afternoon.

“The trawler remained partially submerged in the Bay of Bengal and was taken ashore by another trawler in Nazirartek area early Saturday,” Cox’s Bazar Municipality 1 No. Ward Councilor S I Akter Kamal said, adding that when they checked the cold store of the trawler they spotted human legs there.

He said they immediately informed sadar thana police who rushed to the spot on Saturday night. In cooperation of the fire service, police so far recovered 11 half-decomposed bodies till 3pm on Sunday.

Despite repeated attempts, Jago News could not reach Cox’s Bazar Sadar Police Station’s Officer-in-charge Mohammad Rafiqul Islam and Additional Police Super Rafiqul Islam for comment.
