3 shot in clashes over dominance in Chhanpara

Three people were shot in clashes took place between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning in Chhanpara of Rupganj in Narayanganj.

The shot victims – Sunny, Samrat Parvez and Roman – are currently undergoing treatment at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), said Bachchu Mia, in-charge of the hospital’s police outpost.

He said that all three victims were shot in the legs.

Attempts were made to contact with Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rupganj police station AFM Syed over mobile phone several times to inquire about the clash, but he did not receive it. Short messages were also sent but he did not reply to it.

District Police Assistant Superintendent of Police (Rupganj-Araihajar Circle) Abir Hossain said, “Zainal group clashed with Shamser and Shahabuddin groups over exercising of dominance in the area. Several people of both sides were injured in the incident. It is known that three people are undergoing treatment at DMCH. But the situation is normal. Additional police have been deployed in the area to avoid further clashes. No case was filed yet in this regard.”
