Shaukat Mahmood expelled from BNP

BNP Vice Chairman Shaukat Mahmood has been expelled from all posts of the party on charges of breaching party discipline.

BNP’s assistant office secretary Taiful Islam Tipu made the disclosure at a press release sent to media on Tuesday afternoon.

The party’s top policy-making body, the standing committee, decided to dismiss Shaukat from all levels of the organization, said the release.

Shaukat Mahmood is the former president and general secretary of the National Press Club. Moreover, he was also the convener of the BNP-backed Sammilito Peshajibi Parishad.

The noted journalist has been serving as the vice chairman of BNP since 2016.

When asked regarding his expulsion, Shaukat Mahmood told The Daily Samakal, “It is sad. I don’t want to say anything else right now.”
