The High Court issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to show cause as to why names of the perpetrators of an accident which caused critical injury and amputation of leg of father of a female police sergeant in the capital shall not be included in a case filed over the incident.

A division bench of the High Court passed the order on Monday.

On December 2, Monoronjon Hajong, father of sergeant Mohua, was hit by a speeding car at Chairman Bari point of the road at Banani in the capital. In a critical condition, he was taken to the National Institute of Traumatology & Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR). The doctors cut his leg as part of treatment. He was later shifted to BIRDEM Hospital.
According to media reports, police allegedly refused to accept case against the perpetrators considering their social influence. Later, a case was taken without mentioning name of any accused.

In its rule, the HC wanted to know why Officer-in-Charge of Banani Police Station and others concerned shall not face action.
