The Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism has declared 259.10 acres of Guliyakhali beach in Sitakunda, Chittagong, adjacent to the Bay of Bengal as a protected area. The Chittagong district administration has said that a special plan has been taken to develop the beach as a tourist destination, reports Sarabangla.com.

This information was given in a circular signed by Shyamoli Nabi, deputy secretary of the ministry, on the order of the President yesterday.[4] According to the circular, the development and growth of the tourism industry is being hampered due to unplanned construction of structures at Guliyakhali beach.

There is a risk of further disruption in the future.

Chittagong Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) ASM Jamshed Khandaker said, “The Ministry of Tourism has issued a notification declaring Guliyakhali beach as a protected area.” The notification has come to Chittagong district administration. Of course, we have already taken the initiative to build this beach in a planned way.

Located at the mouth of the river, this beach is also known as Muradpur beach. The distance from Sitakunda Bazar is five kilometers. It is completely different from other beaches in terms of nature and structure. On one side of the horizon is a pair of water bodies and on the other side is Keora forest.
