Mitu murder: Accused Bhola gets bail in HC

The High Court on Wednesday granted four weeks’ bail to Ehteshamul Haque Bhola, an accused in the murder case of Mahmuda Khanam Mitu, the wife of Chattogram’s former Police Superintendent Babul Akter.

The virtual bench of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice KM Zahid Sarwar passed the order after a hearing.

The court also ordered him to surrender before the lower court after completion of the bail period.

Today advocate Muhammad Hasibur Rahman stood for the accused, Bhola, in the court while Assistant Attorney General Md Mizanur Rahman for the prosecution.

On June 5, 2016, Mitu was shot and stabbed to death on the way to pick up her son from a school bus on OR Nizam Road in Chattogram city.

Later, SP Babul lodged a case against unidentified people with the Panchlaish Police Station in Chattogram in this connection.

Ehteshamul Haque Bhola, a resident of Bakalia area in the city, and his associate Monir were arrested in the lawsuit in the same year.
