8,364 people test positive in a single day

Bangladesh on Monday recorded 8,364 Covid-19 cases after testing 35,059 samples, which is also the highest number of infections since the pandemic began in the country last year.

Earlier on 7 April, some 7,626 cases were reported in the wake of the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic in the country.

Besides, the country witnessed 104 Covid-19 deaths today.
The infections and deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours.

A press statement of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) revealed this information on Monday.

Meanwhile, the positivity rate also reached its peak at 23.86 percent as the highest rate was earlier at 23.57 percent recorded on 8 April.

With today’s figures, the case tally reached 8,96,770 in the country. And the total number of deaths stands at 14,276.
