The National Theatre, the UK stage company, has launched a dedicated streaming service following the success of its filmed productions on YouTube during the pandemic. The filmed and archived plays, which are selected, feature noted actors Dame Helen Mirren and Olivia Colman, among others.

The audience can enjoy the plays either for a subscription fee or one-time payments. New productions will be added every month, both on the app and OTT platform, and on smart television for £100, annually.

Many of these productions have been showcased for free in movie theatres for the first couple of months during the pandemic.

The present titles include Dame Helen’s “Phèdre Medea” starring Helen McCrory  and Michaela Coel, Lucy Kirkwood’s “Mosquitoes” and Adrian Lester’s “Othello”, among many such other amazing plays.

Currently, the London venue is closed for visitors. However, the authorities plan to reopen the hall with “Dick Whittington” with safety measures, on December 11.
