153 women raped in November in Bangladesh: Report

As many as 353 women and female children were subjected to torture and sexual violence in different areas across the country in November, said a report of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad on Tuesday.

The monthly report was prepared based on information collected from 13 national daily newspapers.

Of the total victims, 153 women were raped, including 18 who were gang-raped. Also, 94 female children were raped while seven others were gang-raped.

Besides, 15 women, including seven children, were victims of attempted rape.

A total of 11, including four children, were assaulted physically. A child succumbed to her injuries and four others were burnt with acid.

A total of 38 women, including 12 children, were killed for various reasons and five others managed to escape death. Four women were killed and nine were tortured for dowry.

A total of 43 women and girls, including 12 children, died mysteriously. Besides, 14 incidents of child marriage took place last month.

Earlier in October, a total of 436 women and children were tortured and sexually violated in country. Of them, 216 were raped including 44 who were gangraped.
